August 2000 I rode in Deer Creek State Park, just south of Heber City, East of Salt Lake City. When I drove through Salt Lake City, the city was torn up. The roads and streets were being resurfaced, there were detours everywhere. The city was getting ready for the Olympics. Traffic was extremely heavy. I got lost and found myself going south, I remember being angry and then I thought, I'm on vacation, What difference does it make where I go? Here is the serendipity, I turned onto a Canyon Road running northeast to get back to my main route I-80. The scenery was so incredible, that it more than made up for the inconvenience.
